8th-gradeinternships

One of the things our students look forward to during their last year at WMS is the opportunity to participate in an internship experience outside of our school. This year, November 8-11 has been set aside for these internships. For three days, eighth-grade students are asked to spend approximately five hours each day working in a place that interests them.

It is our hope that they will have a chance to explore something they are interested in and care about.  Right now, our students are working on placements.  As a point of reference, past eighth graders have worked with masons, doctors, furniture-makers, architects, and veterinarians.  They have also worked at garden centers, bookstores, construction companies, preschools and dance companies.

We ask that students not work with their own parents, but other parents in the school have often been willing to help.  If you (or anyone you know) could welcome an eighth-grader to your place of work for a few days, please let me know and I’ll do my best to match up interests.  Include your contact info and a brief description of the work you do.  I’m happy to talk in person and explain things in more detail as well. Thanks in advance for your help.
