Winfred Rembert Presentation
Date: 03/25/2010
Winfred Rembert, an artist and storyteller, will share his artwork and life stories with our middle school students on Thursday, March 25th at 1:00 pm in the theater. Parents are invited to attend this rare and exciting event.
Winfred Rembert uses a canvas of cured leather to tool memories from his life while he was growing up in Cuthbert, Georgia. His original artwork and mesmerizing narratives offer an unprecedented view of African-American life prior to and following the Civil Rights Movement. In spite of the harsh realities of his life including working the cotton fields as a child, a near-lynching as a young adult, and several years on a chain gang, Winfred has emerged as an inspiring author, charismatic speaker, and an artist of astounding creativity and power.
Should you be interested in obtaining a copy of Don’t Hold Me Back for Winfred to sign on the day of the event, his book is available through Carus Publishing at:
