This program is a great way to get active, learn about health, fitness, and above all - to have fun. The goal is to run a marathon (26.2 miles) over an eight week period.  KiDSMARATHON was started by Rod Dixon, an Olympic medalist, who was one of the best runners in the world for 17 years.  Mimi and Erik are starting this program for WMS students on Monday, April 5th for students from ages 7 to 12.  Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 8:00am and 8:25am the runners will meet down on the playing field to do their running and their miles will be documented. There is also a requirement to do a run on the weekends which needs to be supervised by the runner's parents. The 8 week program finishes with a 1.2 mile run on June 12th at the Litchfield High school track where Rod Dixon will present the students who ran the marathon with a certificate of completion, a t-shirt and a medal.  Each student that signs up for the KiDSMARATHON will receive a training guide, a personal training log and a nutritional booklet. There is a fee of $10 for each runner and parents must sign a medical waiver to participate.  Any parent or child that just wants to come and run with us without participating in the official program on June 12th is welcome as well.  All student runners who participate will be recognized on June 11th at the WMS field day, even if they only completed some of the miles.  Please see Mimi Gillen on April 5th at 8am to sign up and participate in this program that builds a foundation of life-long health
