Edible Garden

Date: 05/24/2010
Time: 12:00 AM

The Washington Montessori School Parent Earth Team along with the 6th grade Middle School students are hard at work building an organic edible garden for WMS.  With a grant of $1000 from Litchfield Hills Food Systems and generous donations from a few WMS families and John Scheeper’s Kitchen Garden Seeds in Bantam, the first eight beds were built on Friday, May 21st.  The 6th graders are involved in every aspect of building the garden including ideas for future development. Different classrooms started seeds in the greenhouse and some of these seedlings will be going to Judea Garden in Washington Depot.  Parent and student volunteers will be helping maintain the school garden over the summer.

If you are interested in helping with this project, please email a Parent Earth team member (Eliza Paolucci, Nancy Preston or Alex Ince) or come to a Parent Earth Team meeting (May 25th and June 8th) at 8:40am in the Spanish Room.

The team is still accepting donations of garden tools.
