JV vs. Rudolf Steiner
Our JV soccer team played a remarkable game against a perfectly matched Rudolf Steiner school last Wednesday. Our Polar Bears had a lot of positive energy driving up to Great Barington with a lot of positive songs and camaraderie. We applied that energy into the game right off the first whistle. Our team positioning and shape flowed well up and down the field. Our Bears where aggressive at every moment of the first half challenging every ball both offensively and defensively. It was a lot of long ball and strong individual efforts throughout the half. At halftime, we regrouped to discuss picking our heads up more and using the free time Rudolf Steiner was giving us with the ball to control the game with our skill passing, and did so in the second half. Our Bears had a even better flow in the middle of the field with smoother passes as a team to generate numerous scoring opportunities. We finally scored one on a wonderful long ball played over the defense. Layla out-sprinted their defensive line to score a beautiful breakaway goal. Our goalkeeper, Mason, made some key saves, with the help of his defense line  to hold off their attack. Esmee, Mark, Ana, and Serena, all lead the middle of our formation as key leaders from the backfield up. Our outside wing players Wyatt, Saney’a, Oskar, Elena, Sydney, Lily, Charlotte, and Bodhi, were key in containing their opponents defensively and counter attacking all game long. Final Score: WMS 1, Rudolf Steiner 0
