Cross Country at Chase Invitational
The Chase Invitational has become the unofficial regional Middle School championships with hundreds of runners competing each year. This year 26 girls and 140 boys toed the line to test themselves on the fast 2.19-mile course. In the closest finish in course history, our own Stella took the win in a dramatic sprint/counter-sprint photo finish. In the end she held off her closest competitor by less than 3 tenths of a second to earn top honors and the coveted winners trophy. Reagan finished in a medal position in 13th place and was the 4th placed 6th grader. Julia, our lone 7th grader, started strong and never let up on her favorite course. Vivian and Allie are improving with every race and finished in scoring position for the Bears. Caroline and Phoebe paced and pushed each other almost all the way to line. Emmy rounded out the Polar Bear squad with her strong fight from start to finish. When the scores were tallied the lady Bears came in 5th of the 12 teams. Congrats girls.

The boys fielded a smaller than normal team this year. Coleman and Tate were the lone representatives for the Polar Bears. Coleman fought off fatigue by channeling his inner strength and mental toughness to move from 22nd to 15th on the last 1/2 lap to earn a medal and a spot on the podium. Tate finished right in middle of the field of mostly older runners which bodes well for the future. Only two meets left and we call it a season!

Boys’ Varsity vs. Dutchess Day
Our Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team surprised the Dutchess Day team with vastly improved technique and fitness. The boys played a 3-4-3 formation and kept the same goalie for the entire game. We took the early lead with a goal scored 10 minutes in. Dutchess worked very hard to break through our defense. Eventually they did to tie up the score. It was a really nice game; Coach Joel was impressed with the improvements he saw in the team. Final Score: WMS 1, Dutchess Day 1

Girls’ Varsity vs. Rumsey
The Girls’ Varsty Soccer Team faced off against Rumsey in another close game. Final Score: WMS 3, Rumsey 3
