This camp is designed for both beginners and seasoned lacrosse players. Players will be grouped by skill level and mentoring will be used to benefit both beginners and more experienced players in this fun positive environment. Head Coach, John Long will be assisted by other coaches and varsity players.
Skills to be covered include:
- Cradling
- Passing
- Throwing
- Body Positioning
- Shooting
- Ground Balls
- Live Game Positioning and Strategy (Defensive and Offensive Set-ups)
- Rules
- Goaltending (Angles and Stick & Body Positioning for those interested in being in goal)
About the Coach
John Long, head coach, started playing lacrosse in the sixth grade, becoming a goaltender for Taft School and Lafayette College. Currently an eighth grade English teacher at Thomaston Middle School, John serves on the Board of Directors of the Litchfield Hills Youth Lacrosse Association. He has coached both boys and girls, loves the game, and hopes to interest many more area youngsters in this sport.
In the event of inclement weather, campers will play in the Washington Montessori gym. Snack will be provided.
