This year’s Presidents Day Celebration focused on Abraham Lincoln, the Civil War and The Gettysburg Address. Sixth and Seventh grade students studied The Civil War in Humanities class and put together dramatic presentations for elementary classrooms. Thanks to Elliott Davis and the Gunn Museum, WMS was able to host an exhibit in the library that focused on Washington CT during the time of the Civil War. Stephen Bartkus from the Gunn Museum was on hand Thursday afternoon to explain the exhibit to our students. Middle School students recited the Gettysburg address and a group of middle school students also put together a “mash up video” of WMS teachers and staff members reciting this important speech.
