Soccer Games & X-Country Meet

Girls Soccer Away vs Sherman
The girls soccer team headed to Sherman for the final game of the season. Both teams went into the game with energy and excitement, creating an interesting match from start to finish. Although Sherman managed to find the back of goal quite a few times, our WMS girls did not give up, persistent in putting pressure on Sherman’s defense. In a very nice gesture, Sherman’s coach honored all of the 8th Grade players from both teams with roses. Final Score WMS 0, Sherman 5

Coed Blue Soccer Home vs IMS
Our coed blue soccer team took to the field one last time this season and faced off against a very talented young team from Indian Mountain. They had a very skillful group and put us to the test yet again this season. The first half was a challenging one and we were hunkered down in our half for the majority of it. Our goalkeeper Riley faced numerous shots and made amazing saves to keep our Polar Bears in the game. We were very aggressive and out-muscled their team to the ball, and won a lot of 50/50 opportunities. The score remained 0-0 at the half, and IMS came out strong breaking through our defense numerous times to score some well-earned goals. We were down 3 goals early in the second half, but our Bears rallied in the last 10 minutes to score one off of one of James’ individual efforts. Momentum shifted in our favor and we had multiple opportunities to score, but just could find the back of the net. “This was a growing season for most of our players and they all have shown so much improvement in the game of soccer, especially in this last stretch of our season,” said Coach Greg. “I am very proud of this group and I look forward to their return to the WMS soccer program next fall!” Final Score WMS 1, IMS 3
