Dear WMS Community,
This is the first installment of Friday Coffee Cart, an opportunity for me to share some brief insights, observations or reflections from the week here at WMS. While it won’t replace conversations at the coffee cart or greetings in the hallway during arrival and dismissal times, I hope it can serve as a connection to what is happening in the building and here on campus. Additionally, Jen Gianfagna will be sharing some photos in each edition as a way for you to get a little glimpse of life at WMS.
The weather became more springlike this week, and students and teachers, coaches, and even a few friends from the forest took advantage of our outdoor spaces. The outdoor areas connected to each classroom were in full use, as well as Pat’s Track for a nature walk, the outdoor science classroom for a lesson and the big sandbox for play. After a few days of snow and a cold wind, the much needed sun provided warmth for outdoor Yoga, snack break, Humanities classes, field games, and even the creation of a painting of The Cosmic Dance.
The bulletin boards around the school have come to life with posters of the Animal Kingdom, maps of the world, poetry, cartography projects, messages of hope and community, and much much more. Lessons on Spanish, Algebra, grammar, and biomes can be heard as you walk the hallways. In short, it is clear that the children are fully engaged in their learning, and their play.
Enjoy your weekend.
