To the WMS Community,
Those of you who know this is my forty second year at WMS won’t be surprised to hear that I have been thinking about my departure for some time. I thought it would become clear at some point when I should leave, but actually I think my long time at the school makes it hard for any time to feel right. There are always families and teachers I want to work with and children I want to see grow.
I’ve decided that I should make a proactive decision which is that next year 2017-18 will be my last year as head of school. I’ve been very fortunate to have been in the right place at the right time to have the opportunity to lead our school over its formative years. We have grown and changed a great deal since 1975 when I arrived as the first Lower Elementary teacher. Many people contributed to our accomplishments and I’ve been fortunate to have had so many parents and teachers on this journey with me. It’s certainly been the experience of my lifetime outside of my family.
Because the school is supported by many people and has such a strong culture, I am confident that it will continue to flourish under new leadership. Indeed, there will be new ideas and approaches that will be contributed the mix – positive measures that will add to what the school has to offer children and families.
I will always be invested in the School and its children. Thank you to all of you who have supported the School in the past and to those who will carry the torch going forward.
