Sports Update_1.8.18

Our girls defeated Rumsey in the first game back from the winter break. Our Polar Bears came out very aggressive off the tip-off and worked hard to dominate the game. Our starting five had to work out their nerves in the first couple minutes, missing a lot of open shots, but then calmed their nerves and found their rhythm. The girls scored many baskets early in the first half to control the game against Rumsey. All of our players contributed. Rumsey was physical and aggressive on rebounds, but we adjusted at the half and worked to out muscle them to the ball on offensive and defensive rebounds. It was a well-deserved win and a growing experience for many of our players. The girls tip off against a strong Sherman team next week and are excited for the challenge. Final score WMS 28, Rumsey 6.

The Boys Basketball Team played Rumsey at home for their third game. Rumsey Hall led throughout the first half sinking numerous 3 pointers. WMS competed hard both offensively and defensively, and we were able to keep Rumsey’s lead down to 2 points. We came out focused and intense for the second half. Denying all of the opponents 3 pointers and taking advantage of offensive opportunities, we were able to take the lead and pull ahead. Final Score WMS 40, Rumsey 30.
