The Girls Basketball Team started off their season with a victory against Indian Mountain School. All of the players on the team played a very strong physical and mental game against a good team. The girls played as a team and the final score shows that. We are excited for the rest of our season and thank the families who came to watch us. Final Score: WMS 30, IMS 12

Our Coed team played well against the Cornwall Consolidated School in Falls Village on Wednesday. For many of the players, it was their first basketball game and a wonderful learning experience. Led by our 7th year players, we came out strong in the first period scorning two baskets early. Jemima, Holli and Ashleen shared the role of point guard and led us on offense. Lucy, Synae’a and Reagan worked hard on the boards as our post players. Charlotte, Oskar and Ana worked the perimeter by getting open and creating scoring opportunities on offense. We worked on all areas of our game, from our man-to-man defense, to rebounding on both sides of the courts, and taking well-calculated shots. Cornwall played a 3-2 zone defense and we were able to move the ball around the zone effectively, but forced a lot of our shots outside the key. We had some very exciting baskets, but need to improve on our offensive rebounds. On Defense, we were very aggressive and challenged every player with the ball. Cornwall worked hard on all their rebounds and got the better of us. Our Bears did a great job man marking. The game was back and forth to the final whistle, but we came up short in the end. I’m a very proud of this group’s first game of their season and we look forward to getting back on the court after the holiday break. Final Score: WMS 11, Cornwall Consolidated 16

The Boys Basketball Team took on Chase Collegiate at home on Wednesday afternoon for their second game of the season. Throughout the first half of the game, the teams went back and forth with taking the lead. At half time, Chase was up by 3 points. During the second half, our team was more consistent on both offense and defense. You could see improvement in all facets of the game from their first game to their second. Final Score: WMS 35, Chase Collegiate 24.
