Sports Update 5.15.18

The WMS tennis team is unfortunately dealing with an unprecedented amount of cancelation matches and indoor practices due to weather this Spring. The good news is that we completed all three of our matches against an old, local rival: Indian Mountain School. The Blue Team competed in both an away and a home match, besting the IMS team each time.

The Silver Team traveled to IMS on one of our nicest spring days so far and tied their overall match 3-3. This was a massive accomplishment for a team where several players were competing for their very first time, not to mention IMS’s number one player for both doubles and singles was tall and very strong. The exciting match came down to our last double team’s final game. If they hadn’t won that game, we would have lost the entire match. I’m so grateful for their focus and determination to get through, nerves and all, to tie it up for us!

I can say that this season is marked by the positive attitudes and good sportsmanship of every single player – who have managed to keep moving forward and improving despite many hours practicing in the gym and cancelations. You have much to be proud of with this group of players who are working very hard and clearly enjoy being a part of the WMS tennis team.
