Washington Montessori School attracts families from more than 40 towns within a 25+ mile radius. (See map) We know there is a lot to consider when looking into schools for your children—the logistics of getting your children to and from school being one. WMS is committed to exploring transportation options for our community.
“Our dedicated teachers, our engaging and challenging academic program and our full day schedule makes WMS a great fit for many children, and we want to make a WMS education a possibility for even more families.”
We currently offer the following options for transportation. As we continue to evaluate our community’s needs for transportation, we anticipate adding other options.
GREATER NEW MILFORD BUS
The bus to WMS makes one stop in New Milford and one in Sherman, reaches Washington Montessori School at 8:20 a.m., and leaves at 5:00 p.m. for the return trip. With interscholastic athletics, performing arts, enrichment, study hall and childcare available, there are plenty of opportunities for children to be engaged after the school day as well. Sign up for the Greater New Milford Bus by filling out this form.
If you are interested in learning more about the Greater New Milford bus opportunity, please contact Laura Martin, Assistant Head of School for Advancement, at 860.868.0551 x 2161 or at email@example.com.
REGION 12 BUS
Region 12 provides morning and afternoon bus transportation to all WMS students who live in the Region 12 district (Washington, Bridgewater and Roxbury) Students are picked up at their homes (or a convenient, centralized location) and arrive to WMS around 8:20 a.m. Children are picked up from school at 3:15 p.m. and are then brought home. The WMS Region 12 bus follows the Region 12 school schedule and is not always available on days when we have school. If you are a current WMS family living in the Region 12 district and would like your children to take the bus, you must fill out the Region 12 Bus Form and contact Pam Newton, All-Star Transportation Terminal Manager, at 860.868.0666 by August 1.
Parents of LE & UE students can opt to pick up children in the front of the building at dismissal. Otherwise, parents/caregivers must pick up children from their classrooms. Elementary dismissal time is 3:15 p.m. Curbside is a great option for parents with younger children (who often love to fall asleep in the car). To sign up for Curbside, parents must fill out the Curbside Request Form.
All Middle School students are dismissed to Curbside. Parents of Middle School students do not need to submit an official Curbside Request Form.
Many of our families share the commute to and from school in self-organized car pools. If you are interested in WMS, but worry we might be too far, we are happy to help you discover options.
